WATER FILTER/WASTE DISPOSAL PLNT OPER
The Water Filter/Waste Disposal Plant Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining water-purifying equipment and testing water samples. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.

Typical Functions:
Cleans water filters to allow unobstructed flow of water into treatment tanks and adjusts the flow of water by regulating valves.
Collects samples of water and performs simple chemical tests using meters to monitor condition of water.
Cleans chemical feeders, adjusts flow gauges, and fills with proper chemicals to be added into water.
Operates, maintains, and repairs water pumps, filters, chemical feeders, and water tanks to ensure proper waste water treatment.
Completes daily report on operations, activities, maintenance, and repairs at the plant to inform supervisor.
Collects water samples and transports to Health Department monthly for quality control testing.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
Knowledge of the water treatment/waste water plant operations and procedures.
Ability to operate and maintain water treatment/waste water plant equipment.
Ability to conduct basic water analysis.
Ability to prepare written reports.
Minimum Qualifications:
The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus five years of experience in environmental programs or water treatment plant operations.
Required Certificates:
Must be licensed as a Water Treatment Plant Operator by the Department of Environmental Quality and the Pollution Control and Ecology Commission in accordance with ACA 8-5-207.
