NURSING CLINIC COORDINATOR

The Nursing Clinic Coordinator is responsible for patient care, staff, and fiscal management of the daily operation of a clinic. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.

Typical Functions:

Coordinates the activities and services of nursing, therapy, social services, housekeeping, and administration to provide a program of total patient care. Establishes performance goals and performs evaluations of staff. Coordinates training and development programs. Reviews a wide variety of reports regarding services, staffing, equipment, incidents, and problems. Conducts unit meetings and makes rounds as necessary to keep abreast of activities. Detects and corrects patient care problems. Develops and directs implementation of programs and/or policies to correct identified deficiencies, comply with state or federal requirements, and improve the quality of services. Ensures compliance with regulations or policy and determines staff or equipment needs. Manages all required documentation and reports for quality assurance, budgets, staffing, and purchasing. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Knowledge of the principles and practices of nursing and general health care. Knowledge of federal and state regulations and guidelines concerning clinical facilities. Knowledge of the principles and practices of organizational management. Ability to plan work unit objectives and operational activities and to assign and direct the work of subordinate supervisors. Ability to assess impact and effectiveness of programs and services and to recommend corrective actions. Ability to develop and oversee the implementation of a budget. Ability to develop and implement total patient care plans.

Minimum Qualifications:

Licensed as a Registered Nurse by the Arkansas State Board of Nursing in accordance with ACA 17-87-301; plus four years of experience in nursing, including two years of supervisory experience as a nurse in public health. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
