MILITARY HOUSING MANAGER

The Military Housing Manager is responsible for the operation and maintenance of a military housing center. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Typical Functions:

Supervises a maintenance and custodial staff by assigning and reviewing work, interviewing and hiring of applicants, training or providing for training of new employees, resolving disputes, and evaluating the performance of incumbents. Schedules or directs scheduling of operations to support round-the-clock operations of a military billeting center housing a transient population including housekeeping, in/out processing of students, and special support services for visiting dignitaries. Inventories supplies and equipment and prepares purchase orders as necessary. Enters scheduling, inventory, and other data into database. Provides information and assistance to billeted personnel including arranging for emergency medical transportation, relaying messages, and providing information concerning the local area to visitors. Arranges for and coordinates the maintenance and repair of facilities, equipment, and dormitory furniture. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Knowledge of the principles and practices of human resource and material resource management. Knowledge of the maintenance and housekeeping requirements of large housing complexes. Knowledge of military regulations and state and federal laws governing the operation and maintenance of military housing. Ability to develop plans and schedules for round-the-clock operations. Ability to coordinate maintenance, repair, and custodial care of a large housing complex. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the work of subordinates. Ability to establish and maintain computerized records systems.

Minimum Qualifications:

The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus five years of experience in facilities operations and maintenance, including one year in a supervisory or leadership capacity. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
