ENG & LAND SURVEYORS ASST EXEC DIRECTOR

The Engineers and Land Surveyors Assistant Executive Director is responsible for board financial functions and processing of payroll and personnel changes and updates. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.

Typical Functions:

Processes payroll documents and performs payroll procedures by collecting information on newly hired employees or making changes for existing employees, computing payroll totals, preparing authorizations, processing and posting vouchers, and processing and disbursing warrants. Analyzes and compiles information to prepare and process payroll, including hiring and termination documents and maintenance of benefits forms. Completes and maintains records and reports including payroll-related reports and personnel records by gathering, analyzing, and compiling information. Reviews and investigates complaints involving evaluation of information that may require development or application of alternatives or precedents. Processes registrations and license renewals to engineers, surveyors, and their businesses. Provides general instruction and reviews the work of others by acting as the functional supervisor. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Knowledge of bookkeeping procedures and methods. Knowledge of state personnel payroll policies, procedures, and regulations. Knowledge of general office practices and procedures. Ability to prepare written documents and maintain journals, ledgers, and files. Ability to plan, organize, and oversee the work of co-workers. Ability to identify and reconcile payroll discrepancies and transactions.

Minimum Qualifications:

The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in general business, public administration, or a related field; plus two years of experience in office management, bookkeeping, or a related field.
