DLL AREC SUPERVISOR

The Arkansas Real Estate Commission (AREC) Licensing Supervisor is responsible for administration and supervision of the licensing department. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Typical Functions:

Directs the activities of the licensing staff including: interviewing, making hire recommendations, evaluating the performance of incumbents, reviewing and approving/disapproving a variety of actions/policies/procedures, and training the licensing staff. Develops policies and procedures to ensure that broker and salesperson licenses are issued in compliance with the Arkansas Real Estate License Laws and Regulations. Coordinates the annual renewal of real estate licenses by preparing renewal instructions, supervising the processing and receipt of fees, mailing of forms, ordering of supplies and postage, and coordinating mass mailings including arranging for copying, labels, folding, etc. Supervises the recording of continuing education compliance records of licensees. Responds to inquiries regarding licensing procedures or problems. Researches and compiles statistical reports and special licensing information. Coordinates activities with Real Estate Testing Services regarding computer operations and testing procedures and policies. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Knowledge of real estate license laws, commission regulations and applicable state laws and procedures. Knowledge of business English, spelling, and punctuation. Knowledge of supervisory and training techniques and procedures. Knowledge of computer and word processing applications, as well as standard office equipment. Ability to interpret and apply laws and procedures as they pertain to Real Estate licensing. Ability to supervise and train staff. Ability to convey and exchange oral and written information.

Minimum Qualifications:

The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field; plus three years of experience in general office work, licensing, or a related area, including two years in a supervisory or leadership capacity. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
