DHE PROGRAM COORDINATOR

The Department of Higher Education (DHE) Program Coordinator is responsible for supervising, directing, and coordinating activities of a specific program by ensuring quality control and appropriateness of programs, coordinating special projects, and preparing applicable reports. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Typical Functions:

Supervises a small to medium support staff; provides training, counseling; monitors time, attendance, and performance; coordinates workload. Assists in obtaining program funding and providing educational opportunities. Prepares and gives presentations, conducts training and provides technical assistance statewide to promote and strengthen assigned programs. Assists in development of program budget, and monitors expenditures. Keeps abreast of, interprets, and makes recommendations to agency senior management concerning federal and state laws and regulations that affect federal programs. Provides fiscal oversight of postsecondary federal education programs. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Knowledge of laws, regulations, and policies pertaining to related federal and state programs. Knowledge of organizational management principles and techniques. Knowledge of community and state resources. Knowledge of computer programs. Ability to monitor the effectiveness of programs and services. Ability to prepare oral and written information and reports. Ability to communicate to a diverse group of people. Ability to analyze data and prepare reports.

Minimum Qualifications:

The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, information technology, public administration, accounting, economics, finance, financial management, or related field; plus five years of experience in grants/contracts management or a related field, including three years in a supervisory capacity. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
