DFA EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT TO THE CMSNR

The Department of Finance and Administration (DFA) Executive Assistant to the Commissioner is responsible for providing assistance and support to the DFA Deputy Director of Revenue and Management Services/Commissioner. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Typical Functions:

Serves as assistant to Deputy Director/Revenue Commissioner. Maintains appointment calendar and orders office publications and office supplies. Prepares correspondence such as memos and letters and reviews documents for Commissioner’s approval or disapproval. Plans, organizes, and schedules project/program implementation phases and procedures and develops monitoring and reporting systems to measure project effectiveness. Maintains legislation and fiscal impact statements during the Legislative Session. Compiles monthly progress reports from department administrators for the Governor’s Office. Answers telephone and greets taxpayers. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Knowledge of the principles and techniques of organizational and systems analysis. Knowledge of planning, research, and analysis techniques and procedures. Ability to interpret and apply state and federal laws and regulations governing specialized area of work. Ability to plan and execute systems and perform organizational analysis and feasibility studies. Ability to plan and organize comprehensive reports of project findings and write and develop manual and handbooks.

Minimum Qualifications:

The formal education equivalent of bachelor’s degree in public administration, general business, personnel management, or a related area; plus three years of experience in planning, research, or a related area. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
