DFA DRIVER LICENSE ADMINISTRATOR
The Department of Finance and Administration (DFA) Driver License Administrator is responsible for developing and implementing policy and procedure for the Office of Driver Services Administration, directs the driver control, driver license issuance, insurance identification, commercial driver license and safety responsibility functions. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.

Typical Functions:
Oversees/directs the activities of the Office of Driver Services which includes, Driver License
Issuance, Commercial Driver License Section, Research, Driver Control, Driving Records,
Safety Responsibility, Insurance Verification, total staff of 130.
Determines goals and objectives for each Driver Services Sections and the sections’
management personnel; approves the development and revision to existing procedures and
processes that directs the services and programs for the offices operation and the sections
area of responsibility.
Researches and discusses with staff new proposed legislation during the year and prepares
reports before the beginning of the legislative session.
Monitor budgetary needs and expenditures for all driver services operations.
Assists the Assistant Commissioners of Revenue and Revenue Legal Counsel in any
technical issues relating to driver services statutes.
Supervises subordinates including interviewing, hiring, training, evaluating performance, and
terminating personnel.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
Knowledge of management methods and practices.
Knowledge of computer applications.
Knowledge of state budgetary procedures.
Ability to supervise a subordinate professional and administrative support staff.
Ability to communicate with a variety of people from different backgrounds, both in writing and verbally.
Ability to multi-task and resolve problems.
Minimum Qualifications:
The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration or a related field; plus nine years of progressively more responsible experience in licensing administration and enforcement, including five years in a managerial capacity.
