DCC PROGRAM COORDINATOR

The Department of Community Correction (DCC) Program Coordinator is responsible for the planning and directing the development of program activities for clients. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Typical Functions:

Directs the work activities of professional support staff including interviewing and hiring, reviewing work, and evaluating the performance of incumbents. Conducts training, assigns job duties, reviews leave requests, reviews grievances, and conducts training for new employees. Plans, coordinates, and directs program planning, development, and administration by establishing operational priorities and coordinating these operations with other functions within and outside the division and agency. Assigns residents to, schedules work, plans work assignments and supervises community work crews. Maintains and coordinates all files and documentation for American Correctional Association certification. Assess equipment needs and make requisitions. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Knowledge of rehabilitative services and delivery systems. Knowledge of principles and practices of organizational management. Knowledge of state and federal laws, regulations, and policies applicable to rehabilitation services. Knowledge of program evaluation, planning, and analysis techniques. Knowledge of practices, procedures, and method related to program area. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the work of others. Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of programs and services. Ability to develop and implement new and revised programs, policies, procedures and guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications:

The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, or a related field, plus three years of experience in program coordination, including two years in a supervisory or leadership capacity. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
