BROADCAST PROMOTION SPECIALIST

The Broadcast Promotion Supervisor is responsible for producing and scheduling promotional and informational spots and voice over credit announcements. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Typical Functions:

Writes, produces, and edits digital audio and video promotional material, sponsorship credits, and public service announcements for broadcast. Provides technical software training and administers support to multi-divisional staff in areas of video graphics, audio and video editing, and program scheduling software. Assesses promotional needs of organization and recommends appropriate services. Reviews program underwriting credits to ensure compliance to Federal Communication Commission rules and regulations. Proofreads and edits broadcast print materials, monthly program guides, weekly news releases, periodic brochures and pamphlets, and monthly newsletters, evaluating contents and impact for accuracy. Attends departmental and promotional planning meetings to ensure organizational goals and objectives are being met. Maintains files of printed articles and audio and videotapes for future use. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Knowledge of broadcast production techniques and procedures. Knowledge of broadcast program planning. Knowledge of Federal Communication Commission rules and regulations Ability to compose and edit broadcast promotional program materials. Ability to analyze information and coordinate with others to establish goals and objectives.

Minimum Qualifications:

The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or a related field; plus three years of experience in broadcast media, communications or a related field. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
