ASP/CACD SENIOR INVESTIGATOR

The Arkansas State Police (ASP) Crimes Against Children Division (CACD) Senior Investigator is responsible for the investigation of allegations of child abuse. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.

Special Job Requirements:

Must perform duties with little direct supervision. Can expect frequent 24-hour on-call duty. Frequent in-state travel is required.

Typical Functions:

Conducts investigations into allegations of child abuse and the criminal actions collateral to those allegations while working in conjunction with state and/or local law enforcement investigators, prosecuting attorney’s offices and employees of the various divisions of the Arkansas Department of Human Services.. Conducts interviews, may assist in criminal investigation, and enters the information into the Children’s Reporting and Information System (CHRIS). Compiles documentation, reports, and transcripts. Presents factual testimony in administrative hearings, juvenile proceedings, and criminal proceedings. Performs other related duties as required or assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Knowledge of the principles and practices of investigations in general. Knowledge of the social issues in child abuse investigation. Knowledge of Windows based PC programs. Ability to understand and prepare written and oral information Ability to apply laws, regulations, and protocols to investigative determinations.

Minimum Qualifications:

The formal education of a bachelor’s degree in social work, sociology, psychology, criminal justice, criminology or a related field; plus three years of experience in child maltreatment investigations or a related area.

Required Certificates:

Must possess a valid Arkansas driver’s license.
