ADH CENTER DIRECTOR-HEALTH PROTECTION

The Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) Center Director â€Â“ Health Protection is responsible for directing the Center for Health Protection. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.

Special Job Requirements:

Typical Functions:

Supervises highly complex statewide programs aimed at protecting the public from emerging infectious disease, bio-terrorism and other emergencies and several programs that support hospital and emergency medical services licensure and systems development. Monitors and evaluates effectiveness of public health services and responses. Supervises subordinates including interviewing, hiring, training, evaluating performance, and terminating personnel. Oversees financial management and personnel management of the center. Approves policies and protocols; reviews funding applications and reports. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Knowledge of state budgetary, human resources, and purchasing procedures. Knowledge of financial, personnel, and public health programs. Ability to supervise a subordinate professional and administrative support staff. Ability to analyze financial information and prepare reports.

Minimum Qualifications:

The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in public health; plus eight years of progressively more responsible experience in local public health protective operations, including four years in a professional managerial capacity.
