ADE ACADEMIC FACILITIES SR PROJECT ADMIN

The Arkansas Department of Education (ADE) Academic Facilities Senior Project Administrator is responsible for acting as program director for construction projects, including coordinating and administering architectural and construction management activities for public school design, construction, and maintenance. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Frequent in-state travel is required.

Typical Functions:

Conducts meetings with Arkansas public school districts to review progress of projects under construction and maintenance of completed projects. Coordinates communication and project progress between associated architect, construction manager and project owner (school district). Manages outside consultants on construction programs for assigned projects, which will include elementary, middle, and secondary schools. Provides oversight of the Division’s examination documents for energy and construction efficiency and conformance with the Arkansas School Design manual and all Arkansas Building codes. Monitors development of designs for school projects and develops and/or reviews and executes statewide programs, master plans, and policies for the Division of Public School Academic Facilities and Transportation (DPSAFT). Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Knowledge of construction and architectural principles Knowledge of school site planning and school space planning. Knowledge of program development, management, and evaluation techniques. Knowledge of design, major and minor construction, repairs, and maintenance. Ability to plan estimating of major building programs. Ability to analyze data and prepare analytical and narrative reports. Ability to maintain working relationships.

Minimum Qualifications:

The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, or construction management, or a related field; plus six years of progressively more responsible experience in the planning, design, construction, repairs, maintenance, and estimating of major building programs or a related field, including three years in a supervisory or leadership capacity. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
