ACOM VOCATIONAL REHAB EVALUATOR

The Vocational Rehabilitation Evaluator is responsible for vocational testing, assessing, and evaluating physically challenged clients, and reporting results to the agency's customer service team to assist in program recommendations. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Typical Functions:

Interviews clients to determine vocational interests and writes a tentative plan outline for testing. Administers various standardized tests, scores and records results of each assignment, compiles the test results, and recommends client to appropriate training program. Participates in the development and review of individualized client program and evaluates, monitors, and documents client performance, including discussions with supervisor, counselor, and co-workers. Procures contracts from local businesses via telephone and personal contacts. Maintains case documentation on client’s long range goals, test results, and narratives. Instructs clients in the use of equipment and supervises clients in a work setting. Orders materials and repairs equipment within the shop area. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Knowledge of rehabilitation counseling principles and practices. Knowledge of vocational testing and evaluation. Ability to instruct, administer, demonstrate, and supervise vocational skills and evaluation tests. Ability to interview and provide information relating to vocational interests, goals, and abilities of clients. Ability to observe, evaluate, record, and relate client behavior. Ability to identify and assign workshop tasks. Ability to prepare case analysis and maintain detailed records.

Minimum Qualifications:

The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in sociology, social work, psychology, or a related area; plus two years of experience in vocational rehabilitation or related area. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
