PLANT BOARD INSPECTOR

The Plant Board Inspector is responsible for conducting on-site inspections/investigations and collecting samples to detect diseases, parasites, and unwanted species. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Special Job Requirements:

Occasional exposure to hazardous chemicals.

Typical Functions:

Issues certificates, quarantines, and permits. Trains, monitors, and supervises the work of new and seasonal employees. Prepares and publishes flyers, fact sheets, newsletters, web pages, and Powerpoint presentations for the dissemination of information affecting the industry and the public. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Knowledge of state and federal laws, rules, and regulations governing agency investigations. Ability to perform inspections, following proper procedures. Ability to withstand hazardous environment. Ability to communicate and make decisions.

Minimum Qualifications:

The formal education equivalent of an associate’s degree; plus two years of experience in a related field. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
