DHE CAREER PATHWAYS DIRECTOR

The Arkansas Department of Higher Education (ADHE) Director of Career Pathways is responsible for directing, overseeing, and monitoring the administration of Career Pathways. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Typical Functions:

Executes duties of administrator of the Career Pathways grant within prescribed budget and timeline. Monitors the planning process on behalf of the entire Career Pathways staff. Communicates project plans and changes with other state agencies, within department, colleges, and other organizations. Supervises subordinates by interviewing, hiring, training, evaluating performance, and terminating personnel. Organizes state-wide, multi-day conferences for two hundred plus attendees. Prepares and monitors annual operations plans, annual budgets, and fiscal year end reporting. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Knowledge of state budgetary, human resources, and purchasing procedures. Knowledge of agency’s laws and regulations. Ability to supervise a subordinate professional and administrative support staff. Ability to analyze financial information and prepare reports. Ability to interpret laws and regulations and develop applicable policies and procedures. Ability to assist in monitoring and evaluating agency operations.

Minimum Qualifications:

The formal education equivalent of a master’s degree in education or a related field; plus seven years of experience in the education field, or a related area, including five years in a supervisory capacity. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
