ADC INDUSTRIAL SUPERVISOR II

The Arkansas Department of Correction (ADC) Correctional Industrial Supervisor II is responsible for directing the activities of industrial work programs and producing quality products requested by the customer. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Typical Functions:

Supervises a small skilled crafts staff by interviewing, recommending for hire/termination, training, assigning and reviewing work, counseling, and evaluating the performance of incumbents. Supervises and trains inmates in the various Correctional Industries Programs, providing safety and equipment instruction, issuing tools and chemicals, and assigning work. Evaluates equipment needs and writes specification to obtain bids. Conducts market survey to establish prices of new or current products. Reviews customer work request for completeness and special instructions. Notifies customer of delays, errors, or problems with orders. Computes cost estimates for finished product and quotes price to prospective customer. Inventories on-site materials and requisitions supplies as needed. Escorts, searches, and counts inmates in assigned work area throughout the work day, in order to maintain security. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Knowledge of supervisory practices and procedures. Knowledge of the operations, systems, and equipment of the industry program being taught. Ability to plan, organize, and oversee the work of subordinates. Ability to establish work plans and oversee work production. Ability to operate equipment used in the industrial program.

Minimum Qualifications:

The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus six years of job-related work experience in industrial management within the industry programs supervised or a related field Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
