At-home COVID-19 testing kits available in Arkansas

Effective January 15, 2022, up to eight (8) at-home COVID-19 test kits per individual, per month are eligible for coverage. There are several options for locating a testing kit:

  • Pick up a test kit for free from certain local libraries and Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) local health units. Find exact locations here.
  • Order up to four (4) free at-home COVID-19 test kits per household through COVIDtests.gov. Free delivery is included.
Purchasing from a pharmacy or retailer

Purchase an approved test kit from a pharmacy or retailer. If you choose this route, you will need to submit a reimbursement form along with a picture of the front of the test box and proof of payment.

CARES Act Coverage

The following Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act provisions are extended until July 15, 2022

  • No-cost for diagnostic testing related to the diagnosis of COVID-19.
  • No-cost for in-person or virtual appointments related to COVID-19 testing.

COVID-19 Coverage FAQs

Am I eligible for eight (8) boxes of tests or eight (8) individual tests?

Under federal regulation, you are eligible for eight (8) individual tests per covered individual, per month. Some boxes contain two (2) tests, in this instance you would be eligible for four (4) boxes.

What if my testing kit(s) is not on the approved list eligible for reimbursement?

The only way to receive reimbursement is to purchase one of the testing kits from the approved list. Test kits not on this list are not eligible for coverage.

When will I receive my reimbursement?

You should receive the reimbursement within 30 days of submitting all requirements. A physical check will be mailed to the address on file with EBD.

Do I need a prescription to purchase an at-home COVID-19 testing kit?

No, you do not need a prescription to receive an at-home COVID-19 test.

Is this covered under the Basic, Classic and Premium ARBenefits Plan levels?

Yes, this benefit is available to every Plan level.

Are there any other types of COVID-19 tests covered?

At this time, only diagnostic and at-home COVID-19 tests are covered.

What if I purchased an at-home test before January 15, 2022?

Only tests purchased on or after January 15, 2022 are eligible for coverage.

Do I need to submit a reimbursement form if I receive a test kit from a public library or an ADH local health unit?

No. Test kits that are picked up from these locations are free.
