VICTIM/WITNESS COORDINATOR

The Victim / Witness Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the efforts and training of the victim/witness support staff of prosecuting attorneys throughout the state. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.

Typical Functions:

Plans, coordinates and organizes victim witness conferences following established protocol. Prepares and organizes training materials for all victim witness conferences. Edits and updates the victim witness manual. Edits, publishes and distributes a quarterly victim witness newsletter. Serves as a liaison on victim witness issues for the Prosecutor Coordinator’s Office. Provides direct assistance and support to victims of crime and their families involved in the criminal justice system. Prepares and organizes informational packets and reports for prosecutor meetings. Maintains payroll and leave records for state-funded prosecuting attorney support staff. Provides general support to Prosecutor Coordinator and Deputy Prosecutor Coordinator as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Knowledge of program development and training techniques. Knowledge of computers and database management. Knowledge of filing and recordkeeping procedures. Ability to compose, proofread, and edit correspondence, reports, and other documents.

Minimum Qualifications:

The formal education equivalent of bachelor’s degree in education, journalism, general business, criminal justice, or a related field; plus one year of experience in training and/or program development, public relations, or a related area.
