TELEVISION PROGRAM SPECIALIST

The Television Program Specialist is responsible for monitoring and providing oversight and correction to processes related to area of assignment. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.

Typical Functions:

Researches, develops, and prepares educational materials and conducts workshops designed to educate the public. Serves as program representative for various initiatives and public relations activities, including fundraisers and community events. Develops and updates agency/program website. Provides statewide training and technical assistance on program education and program development. Maintains record-keeping systems on program data and statistics; prepares and distributes agency program reports. Prepares outreach and promotional materials, including newsletters, brochures, and flyers. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Knowledge of community and state resources. Knowledge of computer programs. Ability to monitor the effectiveness of programs and services. Ability to prepare oral and written information and reports. Ability to communicate to a diverse group of people. Ability to analyze data and prepare reports.

Minimum Qualifications:

The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in journalism, radio/television, public relations, English, creative writing or a related field. OR The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma, plus six years of experience in publications, educational, and/or promotional material writing, public relations, tv/radio production activities or a related field.
