STUDENT RECRUITMENT SPECIALIST

The Student Recruitment Specialist is responsible for organizing field visitations, preparing promotional materials, and conducting campus tours for student recruitment purposes. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Typical Functions:

Visits high schools, distributes and presents promotional materials and discusses campus information with groups, counselors, students and parents. Answers inquiries concerning academic offerings and documents pertinent information concerning visits. Gathers information regarding curriculums, degree areas, student financial aid, and campus activities for use in publications. Conducts tours of buildings and grounds for visiting students, answers questions about campus operations, and issues brochures relative to campus programs. Maintains files on institution database of correspondence received from prospective students and on high school visits and answers requests for promotional information. Advises students concerning curriculum and career opportunities, serves as sponsor to student organizations, assists in determining admission eligibility, and reviews scholarship applications. Assists other campus personnel in conducting workshops, seminars, and conferences. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Knowledge of higher education curriculums, campus residence life, and student financial aid programs. Knowledge of language usage for writing and speaking purposes. Knowledge of public relations practices and techniques. Ability to conduct a student recruitment program. Ability to prepare promotional materials for student recruitment purposes. Ability to coordinate tours for prospective students.

Minimum Qualifications:

The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus two years of specialized training in public relations, communications, or related field. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
