REVOCATION HEARING JUDGE

The Parole Board Hearing Examiner is responsible for conduct revocation hearings for the Arkansas Board of Parole, Arkansas Department of Correction, and conducts transfer hearings for the Arkansas Department of Community Correction. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Typical Functions:

Conducts Revocation Hearings for the Board of Parole and the Arkansas Department of Correction. Conduct Transfer Hearings for the Department of Community Correction. Conduct Interstate Compact Probable Cause Hearings. Prepares and types written reports for all hearings and prepares monthly status reports for all the Board of Parole. Conducts Parole Hearings. Trains Parole Officers to conduct proper Revocation Hearings.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices. Knowledge of policies and procedures. Knowledge of organizational skills and practices. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to analyze and research. Ability to understand, prepare and present analytical and financial data. Ability to work with the public and incarcerated felons. Ability to work in prisons and abide by the security regulations.

Minimum Qualifications:

The formal education equivalent of a bachelors degree in a related field; plus three years of experience with ADC, plus five years of experience is required. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
