REGULATORY BOARD CHIEF INVESTIGATOR

The Regulatory Board Chief Investigator is responsible for investigating complaints and allegations of violations concerning regulatory board functions. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Typical Functions:

Investigates reported violations and complaints. Drafts investigative reports and develops written reports regarding complaints. Prepares investigative documents and exhibits for hearings on violations and complaints. Testifies at hearings as needed. Responds to questions from the public concerning matters involving regulatory board functions, licensing requirements, educational requirements, uniform regulatory guidelines, etc. Reviews reports and practices of other investigators. Coordinates the sharing of information related to complaints and investigations internally and with other regulatory agencies as appropriate. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Knowledge of the principles and practices of the specific regulatory function. Knowledge of state and federal laws, rules, and regulations, agency program policies and applicable laws related to the specific regulatory function. Knowledge of interviewing and investigative techniques and methods. Ability to investigate violations and complaints and identify problems. Ability to prepare, present, and review oral and written information and reports and provide testimony.

Minimum Qualifications:

The formal education equivalent of a bachelors degree in an area related to the regulatory board function; plus three years of experience in a field related to the regulatory board function. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
