PROGRAM/FIELD AUDITOR SUPERVISOR

The Program/Field Auditor Supervisor is responsible for overseeing auditing of financial and programmatic records of state revenue offices, financial institutions, and other businesses that collect state revenue. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Typical Functions:

Provides general supervision of the work of a subordinate audit and administrative support staff by making work assignments, providing instructions, reviewing work performed, and evaluating employee performance. Reviews financial reports, figures, and supporting documentation and analyzes audit findings to ensure compliance with state and federal laws. Recommends corrective actions by compiling supporting documentation to prepare and present reports utilizing the Arkansas Automated Statewide Information System (AASIS), as necessary. Compiles data and audit information for preparation of reports and schedules upon request by other offices or agencies and records findings and analysis of information for future projections. Develops, revises, and interprets policies and procedures and updates internal manuals. Researches, analyzes, and responds to inquiries and requests for interpretations regarding compliance to rules, laws, or policies. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Knowledge of the principles and practices of accounting. Knowledge of automated accounting systems, including the Arkansas Automated Statewide Information System (AASIS). Knowledge of supervisory practices and techniques. Ability to supervise a subordinate audit and administrative support staff. Ability to interpret and apply rules, laws, or policies in evaluating state revenue operations. Ability to evaluate administrative practices and fiscal operations and controls, identify areas of non-compliance with law, program guidelines, administrative policy, or accepted accounting procedures, and recommend corrective actions. Ability to compile supporting documentation and prepare and present reports.

Minimum Qualifications:

The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in accounting, or a related area; plus three years of experience in accounting, auditing, or a related area, including one year in a supervisory or leadership capacity. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
