PRODUCTION ARTIST

The Production Artist is responsible for developing and producing artwork and design applications. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Typical Functions:

Creates artwork, using materials such as pens, ink, watercolors, charcoal, oil, or computer software. Develops and designs new applications, ideas, relationships, systems, or products, including artistic contributions. Develops specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish tasks. Integrates and develops visual elements, in order to produce desired effects, such as the illustration of ideas, emotions, or moods. Confers with clients, editors, writers, art directors, and other interested parties regarding the nature and content of work to be produced. Monitor events, trends, and other circumstances, research specific subject areas, in order to develop ideas and applications. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service. Knowledge of marketing techniques and strategy. Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership techniques, production methods, and coordination of people and resources. Ability to develop creative ways to solve a problem. Ability to concentrate without being distracted.

Minimum Qualifications:

The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual arts, or a related field. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
