PAROLE BD VICTIM INPUT COORDINATOR

The Victim Input Coordinator is responsible for facilitating the involvement of victims of crime in the parole process and organizing victim input hearings; pursuant to A.C.A. 16-90-1113. This position is governed by state and federal laws and Parole Board policy.

Typical Functions:

Plans, coordinates and organizes victim input hearings following established protocol. Edits and distributes transcripts of victim input hearings. Provides direct assistance and support to victims of crime and their families involved in the parole process. Prepares and organizes informational packets and reports related to the victim input process. Processes requests for the disclosure of victim impact statements following established protocol. Serves as a liaison on victim input issues for the Parole Board. Provides training to Parole Board members, staff, and stakeholders on the victim input process. May supervise a small to medium sized staff by interviewing and submitting recommendations for hiring, disciplinary actions, or firing, providing training opportunities, assigning and reviewing work, and evaluating the performance of incumbents. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Knowledge of parole/probation/correctional programs and policies. Knowledge of computers and databases. Knowledge of filing and recordkeeping procedures. Ability to compose, proofread, and edit correspondence, reports, transcripts, and other documents. Ability to clearly and concisely translate parole and correctional policies.

Minimum Qualifications:

The formal education equivalent of bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or a related field; plus two years of experience in parole, adult corrections, social work, or a related area. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
