MOTOR VEHICLE LICENSE SUPERVISOR

The Motor Vehicle License Supervisor oversees the licensing of motor vehicle dealers, distributors, and salespersons for the Commission. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Special Job Requirements:

Occasional in-state travel is required.

Typical Functions:

Supervises a small administrative support staff by interviewing, recommending for hire, training, counseling, and evaluating the performance of incumbents. Corresponds with licensee’s to explain licensing requirements and procedures, answer questions, and provide technical assistance. Sends and receives renewal documents for licensee’s twice a year. Provides assistance to subordinates when difficult licensing situations arise. . Collaborates with investigators conducting field investigations to determine statutory compliance. Responds to license violations and makes recommendations for action. Conducts research and prepares reports to assist Board with policy and rule changes. Provides testimony as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Knowledge of Motor Vehicle Commission Act. Knowledge of supervisory techniques. Ability to operate computer. Ability to communicate and follow directions. Ability to maintain files. Ability to prepare and present oral and written information and reports. Ability to lead and direct the work of others. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Minimum Qualifications:

The formal education equivalent of an associate’s degree in general business, criminal justice, or a related field; plus two years of regulatory/investigative experience, including one year in a supervisory or leadership capacity. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.

Must possess a valid driver’s license.
