FRONT DESK SUPERVISOR

The Front Desk Supervisor is responsible for managing front desk reception and guest registration in the Lodge Parks. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Typical Functions:

Provides daily supervision to room clerks, phone operators, gift shop staff, and night auditors. Interacts with customers to ensure that the check-in and check-out is performed according to established procedures. Assists guests with special needs. Communicates occupancy projections, and assists other managers in the handling of guest comfort and satisfaction. Serves as Manager on Duty as scheduled. Coordinates billing procedures with bookkeeping staff, sales department, and restaurant; prepares cash receipt reports and bank deposits in absence of bookkeeper. Audits and finalizes all master bills to be mailed or collected. Prepares confirmations and various correspondence. Determines future needs for products and materials. Researches pricing and sources of supplies and materials. Participates in conducting park inventories. Assists Lodge Manager with budget projections and planning. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Knowledge of the principles of hospitality management and retail operations. Knowledge of basic bookkeeping and auditing procedures. Ability to monitor and review information and prepare reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate orally and in writing. Ability to review and analyze financial data. Ability to train and oversee the work of employees in a multitude of job tasks related to lodge management. Skill at operating a wide variety of computer programs.

Minimum Qualifications:

The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus three years of experience in hotel/management or a related field; including one year in a supervisory or leadership capacity. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
