ELECTRONICS SECURITY SYSTEMS SENIOR TECH

The Electronics Security Systems Senior Technician is responsible for managing all aspects of the specialized computerized electronic security equipment program. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Special Job Requirements:

In and out of state travel is required. On-call 24 hours a day and occasional overtime, weekend, and holidays.

Typical Functions:

Supervises lower level technicians, as well as providing program feedback to supervisory personnel. Responds to complaints concerning electronic security systems by performing skilled repair or maintenance operations and inspections. Ensures adherence to all electronic security requirements through supervisory personnel. Conducts scheduled preventive maintenance and prepares purchase requests for equipment and tools. Assists in budget preparation and administration, coordinates purchases, and monitors departmental spending. Maintains and reviews equipment logs of recorded performance problems or repairs and meets with vendors to discuss products used in repairs and research of new technologies. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Knowledge of supervisory practices and procedures. Knowledge of operations, maintenance, and repair of electronic equipment. Knowledge of operations, maintenance, and repair of electronic security systems. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the work of lower-level technicians and/or subordinates. Ability to inspect, maintain, and repair specialized technical equipment. Ability of operate test equipment. Ability to diagnose equipment failures from instruments and testing. Ability to develop or modify industrial electronic devices, circuits, or equipment as needed to resolve problems.

Minimum Qualifications:

The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus one year of specialized training in electronics or related field; plus three years of experience in electronics or a related field, including one year in a supervisory or leadership capacity.

Required Certificates:

Must satisfactorily complete the National Guard Electronic Security Installation Course and the National Guard Electronic Access Control & CCTV Course within one year of hire. Must attend the Galaxy Controls & Pelco CCTV Courses within one year of hire.
