DIGITAL BROADCAST TECHNICIAN

The Digital Broadcast Technician is responsible for the broadcast schedule and daily operations of the master control room. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.

Special Job Requirements:

Typical Functions:

Loads audio and video tape machines with programs from the master log and sets audio and video levels. Records video programs broadcast from satellites for delayed review. Monitors transmitter operations for remote problems and compliance with FCC regulations. Cleans and adjusts video equipment. Keeps abreast of standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a call lettered broadcast station. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Knowledge of Federal Communication Commission (FCC) regulations and broadcast operations. Knowledge of the operation of professional broadcast equipment. Knowledge and basic understanding of broadcast computer operating systems. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Ability to monitor and make adjustments to master control room operations.

Minimum Qualifications:

The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus three years of experience in broadcast station operations or a related area.
