DIGITAL BROADCAST SPECIALIST
The Digital Broadcast Specialist is responsible for maintaining and repairing digital transmission sites, installing new equipment, and maintaining remote telemetry return links. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Typical Functions:
Maintains and repairs digital transmission equipment located in assigned area statewide to ensure compliance with Federal Communication Commission (FCC) regulations and that viewers receive agency programming. Responds to malfunctions as reported by transmitter supervisors, identifies module and component level of malfunction, repairs and/or replaces component, and tests for proper working order. Installs battery back-up return links to assure continuation of power supply in event of power source failure. Performs routine and corrective maintenance on remote control telemetry return links to maintain contact with remote locations. Maintains inventory of spare parts for transmitters and digital equipment. Prepares and submits required reports. Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
Knowledge of the calibration, maintenance, and repair of equipment. Knowledge of Federal Communication Commission rules and regulations. Ability to interpret schematics and manuals. Ability to operate electronic test equipment. Ability to maintain, repair, and install digital and electronic transmission equipment.
Minimum Qualifications:
The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus two years of experience in electronics repair and maintenance or related area. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
