DHS BEHAV HLTH FACILITY ADMIN

The Department of Human Services (DHS) Behavioral Health Facility Administrator is responsible for coordinating administrative and support services operations or Arkansas health facilities. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Typical Functions:

Coordinates the work activities of a large professional, technical, and support staff by ensuring the completion of client assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and other assigned tasks, ensuring that staff receives prescribed orientation and in-service training and reviewing leave requests to ensure adequate client treatment and effective delivery of services. Coordinates unit’s activities with other functions within the hospital to ensure a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for clients and staff and to ensure effective communication and supervision of personnel. Participates on hospital committees and in department heads meetings to provide information in the team process and to exchange information regarding operational needs, problems, follow-up, and progress. Determines requirements and recommends staff, material, and equipment needs for the administrative and support services operations coordinated to contribute to the formulation and justification of budgetary requests and monitors expenditures. Plans and coordinates educational and public relations activities. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Knowledge of the principles and practices of human resource and organizational management. Knowledge of state budgetary procedures. Knowledge of the operations and administration of health care facilities. Ability to establish comprehensive organizational systems and programs and to direct operations through subordinate managers. Ability to evaluate and assess effectiveness of client treatment and service delivery. Ability to prepare a budget and monitor expenditures.

Minimum Qualifications:

The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in health services administration, public administration, management, or a related field; plus four years of work experience in an administrative capacity, including two years in a hospital setting. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
