DFA RACING COMMISSION OFFICE AUDITOR

The DFA Racing Commission Office Auditor is responsible for auditing pari-mutuel wagering to ensure monies due the state are collected and that all entities are properly licensed. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Special Job Requirements:

Shift work involving irregular working hours, to include holidays and weekends, is required.

Typical Functions:

Audits live, inter-track, and instant pari-mutuel racing to ensure adherence with national and state laws governing greyhound racing and pari-mutuel wagering. Prepares, transmits, and files daily audit reports by utilizing available software and databases. Assists in reviewing applications and issuing state licenses to owners, trainers, and partnerships, and assists in kennel registration. Provides assistance to members of the greyhound racing community and general public concerning licensing requirements and application preparation. Prepares weekly financial deposits of licensing fees, fines levied, and first-time start greyhound registration fees. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Knowledge of national and state laws, rules, and regulations governing greyhound racing and pari-mutuel wagering. Knowledge of the principals and practices of accounting and auditing. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. Ability to utilize existing software to calculate, reconcile, and prepare required reports. Ability to interpret and explain licensing and registration regulations.

Minimum Qualifications:

The formal education equivalent of an associates degree in accounting, auditing, or a related field; plus one year of experience in accounting, auditing, or a related field. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
