DATA WAREHOUSE SPECIALIST

The Data Warehouse Specialist is responsible for providing general support in the data integration related activities throughout the organization. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Typical Functions:

Performs the data modeling design process, according to custom specifications and reporting requirements. Implements and supports new system applications, enhancements, and future upgrades for existing applications. Provides systems analysis, proposes appropriate solutions, and utilizes the technology to accomplish each assignment. Designs, develops, tests, and maintains programs using software development tools in various programming environments. Develops and maintains complete, accurate, and timely documentation for assigned applications. Supports users in the implementation and day-to-day use of administrative systems database applications, including user training and workflow recommendations, and provides technical support to other programming team members. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Knowledge of advanced data warehousing concepts and dimensional modeling. Knowledge of Microsoft Office. Ability to demonstrate organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills. Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex problems and to translate the solutions into applications/systems or modifications. Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing. Ability to pay attention to detail, manage multiple priorities, and work both independently and as part of a team.

Minimum Qualifications:

The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in information technology or a related area; plus five years of experience in designing and implementing data warehouse and relational database applications. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
