CHILD ABUSE & NEGLECT PREVENTION BD DIR

The Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention Board Director is responsible for ensuring adherence to federal child abuse neglect regulations and the state's child abuse and prevention laws, rules, and regulations. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.

Typical Functions:

Directs and provides general management of the agency’s programs. Develops major plans, goals and objectives for programs; performs cost analyses for grants, programs, and forecasts service needs. Supervises a small support staff by interviewing, hiring, terminating, training, assigning, and reviewing work. Monitors and evaluates program effectiveness. Maintains appropriate contact with federal, state, and local officials and other members of the community. Interprets goals, policies, and programs to accurately communicate the agency mission. Represents the agency in meetings, committees, conferences, and workgroups. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Knowledge of state and federal laws governing child welfare. Knowledge of supervisory practices and techniques. Knowledge of state budgetary and human resources procedures. Knowledge of computer programs. Ability to monitor the effectiveness of programs and services. Ability to prepare oral and written information and reports. Ability to communicate to a diverse group of people. Ability to analyze data and prepare reports. Ability to supervise a subordinate staff.

Minimum Qualifications:

The formal education of a bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, social work or a related field; plus three years of experience in a private and/or public adolescent community setting including one year in a regulatory or operational environment and one year in a leadership or supervisory capacity.
