ASP DL/CDL COORDINATOR

The Arkansas State Police (ASP) Driver's License/Commercial Driver's License (DL/CDL) Coordinator is responsible for managing the agency's driver's license/commercial driver's license program. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Typical Functions:

Oversees the state’s DL/CDL training program by conducting on-site audits of DL/CDL training facilities and test materials, including third party training facility and test materials to ensure that state and federal requirements are met. Trains and certifies individuals to administer the DL/CDL tests for licensing. Develops and implements policies, procedures, goals, and objectives for the DL/CDL program. Maintains a computerized system of collecting, sorting, compiling, and storing commercial licensing data. Maintains an inventory system to track electronic scoring machines assigned to the DL/CDL program and coordinates the preventive maintenance for each machine. Compiles information and statistical data and writes reports. Assists in the preparation of legal contracts between the state and owners of third party testing facilities by providing state and federal specification requirements. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Knowledge of state driver’s license laws and regulations. Knowledge of federal commercial driver’s license laws and regulations. Knowledge of training methods and techniques. Ability to conduct training. Ability to administer and score tests. Ability to compile information and write reports.

Minimum Qualifications:

The formal education equivalent of an associate’s degree in business administration or a related field; plus three years of experience in driver’s license testing. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
