AGRI LAB QUALITY MANAGER
The AgricultureLab Quality Manager is responsible for the quality system of the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory by coordinating all of the activities required to implement and maintain quality regarding laboratory policy and resources. This position is governed by state and federal and agency/institution policy.

Typical Functions:
Monitors laboratory practices to verify continuing compliance with policies and procedures in order to maintain accreditation.
Maintains and up-dates the Quality Manual and conducts internal audits.
Ensures the proper validation of new procedures and/or equipment.
Investigates technical problems, proposes remedial actions, and verifies implementation.
Administers the proficiency testing programs.
Selects, trains, and evaluates internal auditors.
Reviews the Quality System of the lab and proposes corrections and improvements to the Quality System.
Recommends training to improve quality of laboratory staff.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
Knowledge of laboratory policies and technical procedures.
Knowledge of laboratory requirements for continued accreditation.
Ability to investigate technical problems, propose remedial actions, and verify implementation.
Ability to be objective and capable of coordinating all of the activities required to implement and maintain different aspects of the quality system.
Ability to schedule and coordinate internal audits.
Ability to plan, organize, and direct the work of others.
Minimum Qualifications:
The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in natural science, chemistry or biology; plus five years of experience in medical, veterinary or diagnostic laboratory. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
