AGRI FARM TECHNICIAN
The Agriculture Farm Technician is responsible for providing farm labor in the preparation and harvesting of experimental crops. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.

Special Job Requirements:
May operate a variety of vehicles, machinery and equipment including: trucks, tractors,
mowers, farm machinery, backhoes, and manual and power tools. May be exposed to
chemicals, herbicides, fertilizers, and pesticides.
Typical Functions:
Receives assignments and requirements from research project sponsor in preparation for planting, growing experimental crops, and raising livestock.
Cultivates the land for planting crops and processes and sorts seeds for accurate planting, numbering, and identification of plant and seed samples.
Mixes chemicals and applies herbicides and fertilizers, as required, and applies spray pesticides and herbicides.
Performs field operations such as, disking, mowing, seed bed preparation, harvesting crops by hand or mechanical farm equipment.
Assists in field days and educational study tours of farm operations and crops.
Records test data on various measurements, chemical applications, and soil and air temperatures.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
Knowledge of general farm operations and procedures.
Knowledge of basic farm equipment, operations, and maintenance.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to observe farm crops and recognize potential problems in growth patterns.
Ability to operate farm equipment in the cultivation and harvesting of experimental crops.
Minimum Qualifications:
The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus one year of experience in
farming operations or a related field.
Required Certificates:
Must possess a valid Arkansas driver’s license and may be required to obtain a commercial
driver’s license.
