ADPHT WELCOME CENTER ADMINISTRATOR

The Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism (ADPT) Welcome Center Administrator is responsible for managing the Tourism Divisions Welcome Center staff and programs. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Typical Functions:

Directs the activities and administers budget needs and expenditures of a large professional Welcome Center Team through subordinate supervisors by interviewing, hiring, assigning and reviewing work, evaluating performance, and serving as reviewing official. Designs and develops methods of enhancing front-line service to the traveling public. Plans and develops marketing strategies to encourage visitation to the Centers. Monitors Welcome Center work sites to identify problems, investigate complaints, and recommend corrective actions. Oversees compilation and production of monthly and annual reports. Works closely with counterparts at the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department to ensure safe and efficient operation of the Centers. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Knowledge of the travel and tourism industries. Knowledge of supervisory practices and techniques. Knowledge of customer service principles. Knowledge of marketing strategies. Ability to communicate orally and in writing. Ability to access personnel and financial resources and predict and/or respond to facility needs. Ability to develop, monitor, and evaluate the effectiveness of programs and services. Ability to use various software applications to produce analyses, reports, and written communications.

Minimum Qualifications:

The formal education equivalent of a bachelors degree in hospitality, tourism, business administration/management, or a related field; plus five years of hospitality management or business management experience, including two years of supervisory experience. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
