ADPHT MARKETING & PROMOTION DIRECTOR

The Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism (ADPT) Marketing and Promotion Director is responsible for coordinating the department-wide activities of the divisions, boards, and commissions that constitute ADPT. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Typical Functions:

Plans and executes department-wide promotion and marketing projects to promote in-state travel and conferences. Coordinates and monitors contract for ADPT websites. Prioritizes and monitors administrative activities of ADPT divisions. Monitors attendance and activities of ADPT commissions and advisory boards. Coordinates all meetings and prepares reports on all activities for the Governor’s Office. Prepares and monitors annual and biennial budgets and expenditures. Reports findings and recommendations to ADPT Director. Monitors all legislative activity during General Assembly and coordinates committee appearances of department personnel. Prepares responses for requests or complaints from the public, department employees, and elected officials. Assists in hiring, training, evaluating, and scheduling employees in the Director’s office by advising of the requirements of the position, priorities, and communicating goals and objectives. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Knowledge of human resource management and supervisory techniques. Knowledge of state accounting, budget, and purchasing policies and procedures. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common financial reports and documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from the public, employees or elected officials. Ability to present and communicate information orally and in written formats. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and create solutions.

Minimum Qualifications:

The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in business or related field plus five years of work experience, including two years of supervisory experience. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
