ADH PHYSICAL THERAPY BD EXEC DIR

The Physical Therapy Board Executive Director is responsible for developing and implementing Board administrative directives, polices, and procedures, and overseeing the hiring/firing, training, and supervising of staff personnel. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.

Typical Functions:

Supervises a staff by interviewing, recommending for hire, assigning and reviewing work and evaluating the performance of incumbents. Ensures that applicants applying to sit for licensure examinations comply with qualifications outlined in the Arkansas Physical Therapy Act. Reviews and investigates complaints filed against licensees. Pays invoices and monitors the Board’s budget. Represent the Board to the Governor’s office, state legislative bodies, professional societies, educators, and other boards. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Knowledge of ACA 17-93-101 regarding the Arkansas Physical Therapy Act. Knowledge of budgetary, purchasing, and human resources practices and techniques. Knowledge of supervisory practices and techniques. Ability to interpret and apply the provision of laws, rules, and policies of the standards for the practice of physical therapy. Ability to prepare budgets, maintain accounts, and prepare reports. Ability to plan, organize, and oversee the work of others.

Minimum Qualifications:

The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration or a related field; plus four years of experience in regulation, licensing or a related field, including two years in a supervisory capacity.
