ADH DENTAL EXAMINERS BD EXEC DIR

The Dental Board Executive Director is responsible for administration of the Dental Examiners Law, regulations, education programs and directing the operation of the board. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.

Typical Functions:

Directs the activities of a professional and administrative support staff including interviewing, making hire recommendations, evaluating the performance of subordinates, and reviewing and approving/disapproving a variety of actions/policies/procedures. Interprets Dental Examiners laws, and regulations, and establishes and/or revises agency policies and procedures as necessary. Supervises the time-share registration program and supervises, develops, conducts and monitors continuing education programs. Oversees, monitors, and approves budget actions and biennial budget requests. Provides technical assistance to agency personnel, members of the public, media contacts, state officials, and others as required. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Knowledge of supervisory practices and procedures. Knowledge of the Dental Examiners regulations and state laws and procedures as they apply to the Dental Examiners Board. Knowledge of the principles and practices of human resources, organizational management, and state budget and fiscal requirements. Knowledge of techniques involved in developing continuing education programs. Ability to interpret Dental Examiners regulations and state laws and regulations. Ability to plan, conduct, and supervise continuing education.

Minimum Qualifications:

The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, or real estate related field; plus five years of experience in dental activities or related field, including progressively more responsible administrative and/or supervisory experience.
