ADC INDUSTRY ASSISTANT ADMR

The Arkansas Department of Correction (ADC) Industry Assistant Administrator is responsible for planning and directing industry program activities for the department. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Typical Functions:

Supervises a skilled trades staff by interviewing applicants, recommending for hire, assigning and reviewing work, and evaluating the performance of incumbents. Directs industry program activities for the agency to ensure compliance with existing state laws, regulations, and guidelines. Develops and modifies policies and procedures related to industry program activities. Provides information and technical assistance to program managers concerning production procedures, raw material accountability during manufacturing, expansion planning, and equipment specification writing. Assists customers with price estimates and checks status of order and/or shipping schedules. Prepares section budget by reviewing projected sales, material usage, and expenditures to determine operational budget. Establishes and monitors inventory control procedures, reviews copies of vendor invoices for purchases, and sorts and sends to program managers to update prices for inventory and customer billing. Assists customers with price estimates and checks status of order and/or shipping schedule. Attends meetings and conferences promoting Arkansas Correctional Industries. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Knowledge of the principles and practices of industrial and organizational management. Knowledge of industrial safety requirements and procedures. Knowledge of inventory control procedures. Ability to plan work unit objectives and operational activities. Ability to prepare operating budgets. Ability to organize, prepare, and present oral and written reports. Ability to supervise a skilled trades staff.

Minimum Qualifications:

The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, or related field; plus three years of experience in plant management, marketing, or related area, including one year in a supervisory capacity. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
