ADC INDUSTRY ADMINISTRATOR

The Arkansas Department of Corrections (ADC) Industry Administrator is responsible for planning and directing the activities of a large scale diversified industry division of the Arkansas Department of Corrections. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Typical Functions:

Plans and directs the production of ordered goods, such as clothing, furniture, printed material, custodial products, and athletic goods. Supervises a staff of assistant administrators and supervisors by interviewing applicants and recommending for hire, making work assignments, and evaluating employee performance. Oversees the development of the Prison Industry Enhancement Certification Program (PIECP). Prepares and monitors annual budget for maintaining correctional industries division. Evaluates production capabilities and determines feasibility of manufacturing products and promoting sale and use of services and goods. Develops inmate vocational programs in conjunction with prison industries activities. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Knowledge of the principles and techniques of manufacturing operations and marketing techniques in a correctional industry program. Knowledge of production and marketing processes and procedures. Knowledge of laws and regulations affecting the area of correctional industries. Ability to supervise a staff of assistant administrators and supervisors. Ability to prepare and present operating budgets. Ability to evaluate and develop industry programs and prepare division goals and objectives.

Minimum Qualifications:

The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing or a related field; plus six years of experience in industry management, marketing or a related area, including three years in a supervisory role. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
