ADC INDUSTRIAL SUPERVISOR I

The Arkansas Department of Correction (ADC) Industrial Supervisor I is responsible for monitoring the flow of production by inmate workers. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Special Job Requirements:

Exposure to the inmate population is required. Frequent exposure to harmful chemicals may be required. Occasional in-state travel may be required.

Typical Functions:

Supervises and trains inmates within the Correctional Industry Factories providing safety and equipment instruction, overseeing tool and chemical issuance and assigning work. Maintains current inventories on flammable and caustic chemicals and monitors usage. Provides security for minimum security inmates on trips to install factory made goods. Performs area searches for contraband and accounts for inmates in assigned work areas. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Knowledge of basic factory manufacturing systems and related equipment. Knowledge of blue print reading and drawings. Ability to develop work schedules and monitor inmate activities. Ability to develop and monitor quality control procedures to enhance factory goods. Skill in the operation of industrial factory equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:

The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma; plus three years of experience in an industry program, or related area. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
