ACOM REHAB ASST DIRECTOR

The Rehabilitation Assistant Director - Arkansas Career and Technical Institute (ACTI) is responsible for directing the center's business affairs and managing various administrative support functions. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.

Typical Functions:

Provides supervision and management activities of supervisory and administrative support staff by interviewing and recommending for hire, training or arranging training opportunities, assigning and reviewing work and special projects, evaluating the performance of incumbents, and providing technical direction and assistance. Plans and develops for approval the annual operational budget through the review of administrative actions and reports, analyzes and prepares financial reports, makes appropriate adjustments, and keeps management informed of fund availability. Interprets personnel policies and procedures and directs and monitors business and financial activities of the ACTI. Establishes goals and short and long-range plans, develops, implements, and monitors operating policies and procedures, and responds to inquiries. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Knowledge of the principles and practices of organizational management. Knowledge of state and federal laws related to the rehabilitation and rights of the disabled. Knowledge of divisional and program policies, procedures, and operations. Knowledge of principles and practices of vocational rehabilitation. Ability to plan work unit objectives and operational activities and assign and direct the work of subordinate supervisors. Ability to interpret and apply state and federal laws and guidelines. Ability to analyze and evaluate operating and program effectiveness. Ability to prepare, present, and review oral and written information and materials.

Minimum Qualifications:

The formal education equivalent of a master’s degree in public administration, general business, or a related area; plus five years of experience in rehabilitation program support services, including three years in a supervisory or leadership capacity. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
