ACOM DIRECTOR OF PHYSICAL THERAPY

The Arkansas Career Training Institute (ACTI) Director of Physical Therapy is responsible for supervising the areas of occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech pathology. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.

Typical Functions:

Coordinates and supervises physical, occupational, speech, recreation therapists and rehabilitation instructors. Develops programs, procedures, work allocation, and patient assignment; ensures compliance with policy and procedures through program quality assurance. Consults and guides staff regarding patient care. Prepares and monitor budgets for all therapy departments and supervises ordering/procurement. Supervises subordinates, including interviewing, hiring, training, evaluating performance, and terminating personnel. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Knowledge of state and federal policies and practices. Knowledge of the area of vocational/physical/rehabilitation. Knowledge of developing and implementing new programs. Knowledge of working with other health care disciplines. Knowledge of state budgetary, human resources, and purchasing procedures. Knowledge of assistive technology evaluation and prescription. Ability to supervise a subordinate professional and administrative support staff. Ability to compile and analyze data. Ability to multi-task and complete projects in a timely manner.

Minimum Qualifications:

The formal education equivalent of a master’s degree in physical therapy from an accredited institution; plus five years of experience in physical therapy, including three years in a professional managerial or supervisory capacity.

Required Certificates:

Must be licensed as a Physical Therapist by the State Board of Physical Therapy in accordance with ACA 17-93-303.
