ACOM AEDC DIRECTOR FILM COMMISSION

The Arkansas Economic Development Commission (AEDC) Director of Film Commission is responsible for promoting the State of Arkansas to film, video, television and commercial production companies. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.

Typical Functions:

Directs the activities of a small professional staff through lower-level supervisors, including approving hire recommendations, reviewing performance evaluations, evaluating the performance of immediate subordinates, and reviewing and approving/disapproving a variety of actions, policies, and procedures recommended by subordinates. Provides information to filmmakers who are considering filming in Arkansas, such as potential locations, agents, and crew information. Assists filmmakers while they visit and tour potential filming locations. Introduces filmmakers to community leaders, officials, landowners and others who can assist the production company. Acts as the liaison for filmmakers when dealing with other state agencies and local officials. Promotes interest and developing capability of filmmakers and local film commissions within Arkansas Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Knowledge of supervisory practices and procedures. Knowledge of filmmaking techniques and practices. Knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods. Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources. Ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented orally or in written form. Ability to communicate information and ideas orally. Ability to work with numerous types of people from all over the world.

Minimum Qualifications:

The formal educational equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, liberal arts, radio and television or a related field; plus five years of experience in film production operations, including two years in a supervisory capacity.

Required Certificates:

Must possess a valid Arkansas driver’s license.
