ACOM AEDC ASST DIR SALES AND MARKETING

The Arkansas Science and Technology Authority (ASTA) Assistant Director of Sales and Marketing is responsible for creating, developing, and executing the sales and marketing plan and overall management of relationships with manufacturing clients of Arkansas Manufacturing Solutions (AMS), a national Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) center and program of the Arkansas Science and Technology Authority. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.

Typical Functions:

Supervises a sales and marketing staff by interviewing applicants and recommending for hire, making employee assignments, providing employee training, and evaluating employee performance. Directs the development and execution of the AMS sales and marketing plan. Oversees the activities of marketing and business development, implementation and improvement of the AMS sales process, and maintenance and improvements of the customer relations database. Participates in strategic planning processes to develop goals and objectives for AMS and actively works to enhance AMS operations and service delivery to Arkansas manufacturers. Works with diverse groups and interacts at the corporate level in manufacturing firms to enhance client relationships. Develops and leverages collaborative relationships with selective state, regional and local partners. Meets with potential clients at the decision making level to analyze and evaluate client business practices and identify critical business issues and solutions. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Knowledge of manufacturing client needs and market drivers. Knowledge and understanding of strategic and operational planning methods and techniques used by manufacturers. Knowledge and understanding of the role of manufacturing in the economy. Knowledge of supervisory practices and techniques. Ability to plan and direct the activities of a sales and marketing staff. Ability to lead the development and execution of the AMS sales and marketing plan. Ability to develop and implement customer relations management software. Ability to compile reports on issues such as sales activity, closings, and follow ups. Ability to develop and maintain relationships with state, regional, and local partners.

Minimum Qualifications:

The formal education equivalent of a bachelors degree in engineering, business administration, or related field; plus nine years of experience in executive level sales or consulting management, including two years in a supervisory capacity. Additional requirements determined by the agency for recruiting purposes require review and approval by the Office of Personnel Management. OTHER JOB RELATED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR ALL OR PART OF THESE BASIC REQUIREMENTS, EXCEPT FOR CERTIFICATION OR LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS, UPON APPROVAL OF THE QUALIFICATIONS REVIEW COMMITTEE.
