ACOM AEDC ASSISTANT DIRECTOR MGMT SVS

The Arkansas Economic Development Commission (AEDC) Assistant Director of Management Services is responsible for the direction, supervision, and coordination of the agency to assure efficient operations with state law and policy. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency policy.

Typical Functions:

Coordinates with the Governor, Legislators, Congressional Officers, and Commissions who make rules, policies, and appropriate money. Provides executive direction, supervision, and coordination of divisions to assure efficient operations with state law and policy. Initiates long term planning and policy development for department and divisions. Handles personnel issues required by law and policy. Coordinates and/or negotiates with local, state, and federal agencies. Deals with legal issues, both criminal and civil relating to the department.

Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:

Knowledge of supervisory principles and practices. Knowledge of policies and procedures. Knowledge of state budgetary, human resources, and purchasing procedures. Knowledge of public school education. Knowledge of organizational skills and practices. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability read and comprehend scientific and technical literature.

Minimum Qualifications:

The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, operations management, engineering or technology; plus six years of progressively more responsible experience in operational management, including three years in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
